Paso Robles High graduate and Cuesta star Mac Stuart and Cal Poly recruit Kevin Morgan led the North County Indians' 17-hit attack in their 11-4 win over the San Francisco Seals on Tuesday night.
Stuart drove in Peter Lecce with a ground-rule double in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 1-1. Then in the second, Morgan crushed a bases loaded triple down the right field to give the Indians the lead for good 4-1.
The Indians improved to 33-10 in their second season in Templeton. They close out the season on Wednesday at 7pm against the Seals.
Brett Clark earned the win for the Indians. He went 5 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run to go with 1 strikeout.
Stuart went 2 for 5 with a double and home run. Lecce went 3 for 4 with 2 triples, while Morgan went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. San Luis Obispo High graduate Davey Casciola and Atascadero High graduate Brent Poulin had 2 hits apiece.
Interestingly, Seals player Ozzie Sailors pitched 2 innings in the game. The San Marcos High graduate and Santa Barbara native is a female on the Seals. She just finished her sophomore season at the University of Maine Presque Isle, where she played on the baseball team. Sailors allowed 1 unearned run and 4 hits. She also flied out to shallow right field in her only at-bat of the game. Hear from Sailors about her decision to pursue baseball over softball her entire life on KSBY News on Wednesday night.
