The Morro Bay City Council considers allowing a medical marijuana dispensary in the city limits.
The city council discussed a proposal Monday night that would allow one or even two dispensaries in the city under certain guidelines. Charles Lynch gained national attention when he was convicted on federal charges for running a dispensary in Morro Bay.
At Monday's meeting, people on both sides voiced their opinions to council members. "I'm tired of seeing so many people continue to suffer, people who are seriously ill that are benefiting from this particular substance," said Los Osos resident, Linda Hill. "There are some questions that we would have in regard to that. I think if we're making a decision because it would bring money to the city, that's the wrong decision. There's a bigger picture that need to be looked at," said Morro Bay resident, Andrew Wilkie.
The council voted four to one to form a subcommittee to draft a proposal for the council to consider in 60 to 90 days.
