Firefighters in Morro Bay celebrated their new home Saturday afternoon.
A dedication ceremony was held for the city's new fire station.
It will house administration staff and firefighters.
Although the old building was damaged after the 2003 San Simeon Earthquake, the City Council did not award a construction contract until August 2011.
Fire Chief Mike Pond says, "The community finally did it; you, the community. Morro Bay now has a brand new fire station, and I'm humbled by the commitment, perseverance, and patience shown by this community and the firefighters."
After the Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting, a ceremonial unlinking of the old and new hoses also took place.
