Morro Bay hosts inaugural Veterans Day Celebration

The City of Morro Bay celebrated its veterans Sunday. The inaugural Veterans Day Celebration was held at the Veterans Memorial Building. There were special guest speakers, honors for local World War II veterans, a silent auction, and activities for kids. "We're going to have some presentations later on to the vets, and just a get together, to make them feel proud for what they've done for our country, and how proud we are for what they have done," said Joe Eckles, the Master of Ceremonies. Eckles says there were eight World War II veterans at the event, ranging from age 88 to almost 92. There were also veterans from the Vietnam and Korean Wars. According to Eckles, the City of Morro Bay plans activities for veterans on a regular basis.
