A Morro Bay man arrested on burglary charges earlier this month is now being charged with more than a dozen counts relating to child molestation, the Morro Bay Police Department tells KSBY News.

Adam Bearden, 28, was arrested for residential burglary back on January 16. A couple days later, on Jan. 19, Morro Bay detectives launched an investigation into a report that he sexually molested a child younger than 14 for at least three years.

On Sunday, detectives added 16 charges including child sex abuse and cruelty to children. Bearden is still in San Luis Obispo County Jail on $200,000 bail.

The Morro Bay Police Department says it is working with the district attorney's office to file additional charges.
