In a closed session meeting on Thursday, the Morro Bay City Council voted 3-2 to place City Attorney Robert Schultz on administrative leave.
Earlier in October, the council voted to part ways with Schultz and have special legal counsel Steve Simas negotiate a separation agreement with Schultz.
No reason has been given for why Schultz is being told to leave.
Mayor Jamie Irons says he expects an interim city attorney to be in place by Friday.
