The California Highway Patrol says a man was transported by helicopter to a local hospital after a motorcycling accident Saturday afternoon.
It happened at 2:55 p.m. on Santa Rosa Creek Road in Templeton. Officials say 53-year-old Klaus Strobel of San Luis Obispo was driving his motorcycle and curving right on the road when he ran over some loose gravel. He lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the shoulder of the road. He ended up sliding onto the rocks along Santa Rosa Creek.
Strobel was ejected from his motorcycle and landed on some large rocks in the creek bed. He sustained major injuries and was transported by helicopter to a local hospital.
Officials say he was wearing his helmet and proper motorcycle riding attire.
