VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - A motorcyclist who was fatally shot after leading a California Highway Patrol officer on a chase north of Ventura has been identified.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's office says Sunday that 58-year-old Kenneth Keiper died of gunshot wounds.
Authorities said Keiper refused to pull over Saturday after a CHP officer spotted him speeding on old Pacific Coast Highway. They said he was shot at the end the chase. No other details were released pending an investigation into the shooting by the sheriff's department.
The Ventura County Star says Keiper has a record of misdemeanors and infractions between 1996 and 2012. Court records show the CHP cited him for speeding five times.
