A spokesperson for Atascadero State Hospital says patients are still facing additional restrictions following a series of incidents in late March.
Back on March 20, hospital officials said several incidents involving patients and employees forced a campus lockdown. The lockdown remained in place for more than a week as a precautionary measure.
Now, more than a month later, restrictions are still gradually being lifted for patients. ASH says the patients are under "restricted movement," which means they may only leave their units with staff approval, but they may now travel to specific destinations without an escort. Patients are also now allowed to have visitors in the visiting room.
ASH officials would not elaborate on the incidents that forced the March lockdown.
