Reports from national and local news stations indicate Dwight Howard will choose the Houston Rockets.
A person familiar with the situation says the Golden State Warriors have been informed by the free agent center that he won't be signing with them. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Friday because Howard has not announced his decision publicly. Howard met earlier this week with Golden State along with Houston, Atlanta, Dallas and his previous team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Bay Area News Group first reported Howard had informed the Warriors he wouldn't be signing with them.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban tweeted earlier Friday that it was "time to get back to work" amid multiple media reports that Dallas was out of the running for Howard. Cuban also wrote "the Mavs are back open for business."
ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Howard's camp has informed all of the teams he interviewed with but the Rockets that he will not be signing with them. Broussard is siting sources for his information.
Broussard says a team source with the Lakers confirms Howard has informed the team he won't be back but a Lakers spokesman denied that they have been told of Howard's intentions.
Houston general manager Daryl Morey tweeted at 1:34 pacific time: "While we are excited & cautiously optimistic @DwightHoward might choose Houston, we have not yet heard about his decision."
