The Mustangs put up 50 in the first half and cruised to a 94-59 win at UC Riverside in a Big West Conference game on Thursday. The Cal Poly women's basketball team improved to 11-4 in conference and 15-9 overall. It was Cal Poly's fourth-straight Big West Conference win and its seventh in the last eight games.
UC Riverside fell to 4-11 in Big West action.
The Mustangs shot 54 percent for the game and hit 9 of their 16 three point shots for a 56 % clip. They dominated the glass taking a 45 to 27 edge in total rebounds, including 14 offensive boards.
Molly Schlemer, fresh off her Conference Player of the Week award, scored a team-high 16 points, which marked the 13th time in the last 14 games she reached double figures. Senior Kayla Griffin and Ariana Elegado added 12 points apiece. Nikol Allison came off the bench to score 14 points and grab 11 rebounds.
The women close out their last road trip of the regular season on Saturday at Cal State Fullerton with a 3pm tipoff. Cal Poly remains half a game behind first place Pacific after the Tigers beat Long Beach State 59-53 on Thursday.
