Mustangs drop fourth straight, fall 7-3 to UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Cal Poly baseball team dropped their fourth consecutive game on Friday, a 7-3 defeat to UC Riverside.

The Mustangs normally reliable ace Matt Imhof lasted just three innings, surrendering seven hits, allowing five runs (four earned) and striking out just two batters.

Despite producing just three runs, the Cal Poly offense pounded out 13 hits and six Mustangs in the lineup had multi-hit games.

The Mustangs grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Peter Van Gansen RBI sacrifice bunt, but the Highlanders answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and UC Riverside never trailed again.

Game two of the three game series is scheduled to get underway at 6 PM on Saturday.
