Despite nine saves from freshman goalie Wade Hamilton, the Cal Poly men's soccer team lost 2-0 at Cal State Northridge in the Big West Conference semifinals on Wednesday night.
Hamilton recorded six saves in the first half to keep it scoreless. But the Matadors' Sagi LevAri received a 60th minute pass and scored to give CSUN the 1-0 lead.
Big West South Division champion Cal State Northridge added a goal in the 85th minute to improve to 14-6 and advance into Saturday's Big West Championship game against North Division champion UC Davis. The Aggies beat Cal State Fullerton 2-0 on Wednesday.
Cal Poly finished the season 11-7-1. Despite the loss Cal Poly still enjoyed one of its final seasons tying the program record for overall victories and conference wins.
Cal Poly is now 0-4 all-time in conference tournament games.
