With both squads playing their best ball of the season, Cal Poly basketball hosts two doubleheaders to close out the regular season this week with plenty at stake.

The men and women's basketball teams have two Big West Conference games on tap for this week. The women are 12-4 in conference and riding a five game winning streak. They start the week half a game behind first place Pacific. The women can clinch the top seed for next week's Conference Tournament and at least a share of their third-straight regular season title by winning out this week. "It's awesome. I think the team is really fired up to continue to play excellent defense and see if we can't get these home wins," said head coach Faith Mimnaugh, who's team held UC Riverside to 13 first half points and Cal State Northridge to 15 second half points last week.

The men are third in conference at 10-6 in Big West action with a chance to secure the #2 seed for the tournament. Joe Callero's squad is coming off two road victories, its first road trip sweep in two years. The Cal Poly men have won 12-straight Big West games in the Mott Athletics Center.

"I think we're starting to peak at the right time because picking up two huge road wins and then playing at Hawaii in front of 10,000 people was big for our morale. So I think we're building the right momentum for next weekend," said junior forward Chris Eversley, who leads the team at almost 16 points and 7 rebounds per game.

The women host UC Irvine Thursday at 4:30 pm with the men taking on UC Riveside at 7pm in Mott.

Saturday is Senior Night for both squads. The women play Long Beach State at 4 pm and the men take on Cal State Fullerton at 7 pm.
