After a forgettable road trip, the Cal Poly men's basketball team is back home preparing for Saturday's big game at rival UC Santa Barbara.

The Mustangs dropped a heartbreaker on a buzzer-beater at UC Davis last week and then played their worst game of the season in a 22 point loss at Pacific.

Cal Poly is still 3-2 in Big West play and in a three-way tie for fourth place. The Gauchos are 2-3 in conference after winning at UC Davis, but falling at Pacific last weekend.

Despite all the hype surrounding the Blue-Green Rivalry being televised by Fox Sports, the Mustangs are trying to get back to Cal Poly basketball.

"Just get back to what we do. That's going out there and working our tails off every single day in practice, every single possession. So we just want to get back to basics and we have our eyes on the prize," said assistant coach Sam Kirby.

" This is another chance for us to win another conference road game and kind of redeem ourselves from this past weekend. It's just another opportunity to get a big conference win," added senior Drake U'u, who tied a career-high with 13 points against Pacific.

UCSB has dominated the rivalry taking the last five meetings. The Mustangs have not won in the Thunderdome since 2007 and have gone just 2-14 there since turning Division I. The other victory came in 1998.

Tip off Saturday is at 4pm. The game airs live on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.

The Gauchos have been led by sophomore forward Alan Williams, who's averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. He poured in 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds against UC Davis for his ninth double-double. Junior guard Kyle Boswell and freshman guard Taran Brown are averaging 12 points per game.
