The Cal Poly baseball team will be ranked in the top-10 of four national polls going into its four game series against Cal. After a 6-0 week the Mustangs moved up two spots in the Perfect Game poll to 6th. Baseball America bumped Cal Poly up four positions to 7th and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper moved them up two spots to 10th. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association elevated the Mustangs two positions to number 10. Cal Poly didn't crack the top-10 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, coming in at 11, up two spots from last week.
The Mustangs have won seven straight games and have a 17 game home winning streak. That is the second-longest active home winning streak in Division I, behind only Western Carolina (21).
Prior to this season, Cal Poly's highest ranking since moving to Division I was in 2009 when they got as high as 12th in the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper polls.
Cal Poly junior pitcher Matt Imhof was named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. It was the third conference award of the season for the lefty.
Imhof was also chosen as one of six National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper for the third time this year.
Imhof struck out 14 Wagner batters over eight innings in Friday's 8-1 victory at Baggett Stadium. He walked three and allowed one run and three hits, lowering his ERA for the season to 1.29.
