After being edged out, 52-51, by New Mexico State last December in Las Cruces, the UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team was able to exact its revenge on Wednesday night as it downed the visiting Aggies, 43-41, in the Thunderdome.
The win marked the Gauchos' first of the season and extends its home win streak to five straight dating back to the 2011-12 campaign. UCSB now stands at 1-1 on the season while New Mexico State is also 1-1 on the early season.
Nicole Nesbit led the Gauchos with 16 points, while Sweets Underwood added 11 points and a team-high 9 rebounds.
UCSB made just 36% of its shots, but hit 5 of its 10 three-point shots. UCSB outrebounded New Mexico State 40-32. New Mexico State shot just 30% from the floor and went 1 for 14 from 3-point range, which was a 7% clip.
UCSB won despite racking up 17 turnovers to NMSU's 8.
