A search warrant affidavit prepared by Lompoc police and made public this week, said a federal prison guard accused of fatally shooting another guard sent three texts to a woman about the shooting.
Timothy McNally is charged with the murder of Gary Bent at Bent's hotel room on March 8th.
Bent was a prison guard in Victorville and was in town for training at the Lompoc prison where McNally worked.
According to the Lompoc police search warrant, McNally sent messages saying, " "Dude..some crazy***just happened.." A second message read," Damn..I just shot my friend in the damn neck..he's ***dead...Whoops..."
When the woman asked if McNally was serious, police said he responded, " yep..damnit!!! Why the ***was I ***around the with that damn loaded ***gun."
The friend contacted police who went to Bent's hotel room where they found him dead in a bathtub with one shot in the neck.
Police said another witness told them McNally had gone to the hotel room to give Bent a tattoo.
