The new $81 million dollar Lompoc Valley Medical Center opened its doors to the community on Tuesday.
The 60-bed facility is located at the corner of East Ocean Avenue and Seventh Avenue in Lompoc.

Patients were transported from the hospital on Hickory Avenue to the new facility on Tuesday morning.

The project was publicly funded through a health care bond in 2005. It passed with 87 percent of the vote.

Hospital administrators are extremely grateful to the public for its support. The hospital boasts new, state of the art equipment, which leaders say will be more efficient and improve patient care.

KSBY News reporter Ariel Wesler will have a complete report on KSBY News tonight at 5 and 6.
