We have new information tonight on the beachside murder in Santa Barbara last Thursday. Investigators now believe 20-year-old Adrian Robles of Santa Barbara stabbed 44-year-old Robert Simpson. Today, they released photos and details on the investigation.

These are the faces of the three suspects Santa Barbara county investigators say are responsible for the stabbing of 44-year-old Robert Burke. They arrested Adrian Robles Wednesday for Simpson's murder.

"Whatever it was started off relatively amicably and then escalated," said Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown.

Detectives say a fight broke out at the popular Arroyo Burro Beach and ended in a stabbing. Robles then fled the scene and drove off with two girls. One was 19-year-old Britany Weiler. The other, only 17.

Officers say they already patrol the area and could not have prevented the crime.

"The reality is this is an act that occurred at a place and at a time that was really unpredictable," Brown said.

Officers say they have interviewed 70 witnesses in connection with the case and continue to investigate.

"If you commit a crime like this, we will hunt you down. We will arrest you. We will put you in jail and we will bring you to the bar of justice," Brown said.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says this is first homicide the county has investigated since 2008.

Detectives believe robles is a known gang member. A fourth suspect, 21-year old Rudy Gallegos was released from jail. Investigators say evidence shows he was not involved with the murder.

They say the suspects and victim had both been drinking.
