New innovative technology to help detect colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States among both men and women combined.

Dignity Health Hospitals of the Central Coast hopes to reduce that rate by finding more colorectal cancers when the disease is easier to cure. This can be done by utilizing the best imaging technology available, like that found only at French Hospital Medical Center.

The Olympus Evis Exera III allows physicians to see the interior of the body with remarkable clarity due to several visualization improvements facilitated by the latest technology.

The Evis Exera III facilitates more effective and comfortable endoscopic procedures with high-quality imaging and improved form. This instrument possesses Passive Bending (PB) which redistributes pressure so that the insertion tube automatically bends to adjust to the contours of the colon. This decreases patient discomfort and speeds up the insertion process.

It also has Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) to enhance observation of mucosal tissue. NBI gives a more viewable distance and is significantly brighter than previous technology.
