Scientists in Japan have found a new way to create stem cells without having to use embryos.
The technique involves bathing mature cells in an acidic solution. The studies were done using mouse cells, and must still be replicated in humans. But if it's successful, it could replace the need to use embryos.
The special cells can grow into any type of mature cell, and have the capacity to regenerate tissue and organs.
