The New Orleans Saints have released former Cal Poly offensive lineman Scott Winnewisser.
The Bishop Diego High graduate played in the Saints' 17-10 win last Sunday in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was waived with an injury settlement the following day. The injury was not disclosed.
The 6-4, 300 pound Winnewisser was a team captain and voted most inspirational by his teammates following his senior year at Cal Poly. He anchored the offensive line to allow the Mustangs to rank 6th in the FCS in rushing yards. He was a three year starter at Cal Poly.
The Saints signed the undrafted free agent in late May after he participated in the team's rookie minicamp.
