KSBY News has learned that interim Santa Maria Police Chief Ralph Martin has been named permanent Police Chief for the city.

Santa Maria Mayor Larry Lavagino confirms that Chief Martin will be announced as the new chief Monday. The city manager, Rick Haydon, is expected to make an announcement at 10am.

Just last week, the city had narrowed down the search to two candidates.

Ralph Martin has been the interim chief since he replaced Danny Macagni, who retired back in August.
