A new reading program is having a big impact on local students. Students at Vandenberg Middle School are taking part in the "United for Literacy" Reading Plus Program. It's sponsored by the United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County.
The web based reading program is for students as young as the 3rd grade and even for adults. It's being conducted at 26 schools and with 6 community organizations.
Eddie Taylor, Northern Santa Barbara County United Way CEO, said, "It's improving grade level reading at an incredible rate. We've had students in our program now for less than three months who have improved their reading grade levels two or three grades."
See what one student has to say about it on KSBY News at six and how her reading skills have dramatically improved in a very short time.
KSBY News Reporter Monica Quintero will have a live report.
