A new government reports finds about half of Americans took at least one prescription drug at some point between 2007 and 2010.
The Health United States report shows cardiovascular and cholesterol lowering drugs were the most commonly prescribed medications during that time period.
The use of cholesterol drugs, pain drugs, and anti-depressants increased sharply over the past decade, but antibiotic use went down 39 percent.
The report also reveals deaths caused by drug poisoning or overdose more than tripled between 1999 and 2010.
