Americans are still struggling to change unhealthy behaviors.

That's according to a new report from America's Health Rankings, a state-by-state look at the latest health data.

It shows obesity remains one of the country's biggest health challenges.

More than 66-million American adults are obese. That's nearly 28%, and more than the entire population of the United Kingdom.

Nearly one in ten adults nationwide are diabetic, but rates are even higher in South Carolina, Mississippi and West Virginia.

The report also found huge gaps in smoking rates and sedentary lifestyle among the five healthiest and five least healthy states.

The five healthiest states were Vermont, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.

The least healthy states were Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, West Virginia, and South Carolina.

California ranks 22nd on the list.
