New report shows ailing economy is taking a toll on quality of life in SLO County

A new report shows the ailing economy is taking a toll on the quality of life in San Luis Obispo County.
More than 1100 people took part in this year's survey, put on by the ACTION for Healthy Communities.
It evaluates seven different quality of life indicators.
They include education, the economy, health, basic needs, public safety, physical environment and social environment.
"We're looking at basic needs and people in greater need for services from social services, health services, because of the fact that their income has lowered," said Janice Fong Wolf, of the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.
Some other highlights from this year's study include the fact that 48 percent of those questioned said they feel worse off economically this year, compared to last year.
The Food Stamp program saw a 26 percent increase from 2008-2009, and 1 in 5 people surveyed had less than $300 in savings.
