New strain of Norovirus in SLO County

A new strain of Norovirus has been detected in San Luis Obispo County.
The Public Health Department says the virus has caused at least three outbreaks within the past month. Two were in restaurants and one was in a long-term care facility.
Health officials say the outbreaks were all caused by a new variant of Norovirus from Australia.
Norovirus is highly contagious and can spread through contact with an infected person, by consuming infected food or water, or by touching infected surfaces. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, chills, headaches, body aches, fever, and fatigue.
