New theater in Santa Maria invites community to Pre-Grand Opening Event

People in Santa Maria are getting a preview of their new movie theater. The new Edwards Stadium kicked off its Pre-Grand Opening Sunday. The theater offered $2 tickets and concessions. Proceeds benefit Play, Inc. It's an organization that puts on recreational, cultural, social, and arts programs throughout the Santa Maria Valley. "This is another great recreational leisure activities for families to partake in here in town. We've seen all morning, groups of families coming up, kids in each hand getting ready to go see a great movie," said Dennis Smitherman, a Supervisor with the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department. On Monday and Tuesday, the theater is offering the same deal, but proceeds will benefit different charities. Sunday's event runs until midnight.
