Hikers can now blaze some new trails in Orcutt. After months of work, the Orcutt Trails Commission and Santa Maria Valley Open Space unveiled a new multi-use
trail system in town.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony happened this afternoon at the Orcutt Community Park. Organizers led hikes and explained the benefits of the new trails.
"I think this is going to change the complexion of what we have here. We're the largest city in the county, yet we have no public open space. There are no trails for people to recreate on," said Luis Escobar with the Orcutt Trails Commission.
Escobar called it an "historic moment" for Orcutt and the entire Santa Maria Valley.
