Six of the 35 college football Bowl Games and two of the BCS Bowls were played on January 1st.
20th ranked Northwestern (10-3) won a Bowl Game for the first time since 1949. The Wildcats beat Mississippi State (8-5), 34-20.
In the Heart of Dallas Bowl, Oklahoma State (8-5) beat Purdue (6-7), 58-14.
10th ranked South Carolina (11-2) threw a 32 yard touchdown pass with 11 seconds left to beat 18th ranked Michigan (8-5), 33-28 in the Outback Bowl.
After narrowly missing out on the National Championship Game, 7th ranked Georgia (12-2) knocked off 16th ranked Nebraska (10-4) in the Capital One Bowl. Georgia junior quarterback Aaron Murray threw five touchdown passes in a 45-31 win.
Wisconsin (8-6) lost the Rose Bowl for a third straight seasons. 6th ranked Stanford (12-2) beat the Badgers 20-14. Wisconsin running back Montee Ball scored a touchdown, he finishes his career with an FBS record 83 touchdowns.
12th ranked Florida State (12-2) stuffed Northern Illinois (12-2) all-purpose threat Jordan Lynch for most of the night and won the Orange Bowl 31-10.
There are still six Bowl Games left to be played including the National Championship Game between Notre Dame and Alabama on January 7.
