Hundreds of families in Lompoc got a lesson in going green from a Nick Jr. television star.
Wubbzy made stops in Ryon Park and Thomspon Park in Lompoc on Thursday.
He joined parents and kids of all ages as they planted trees.
The event also included a screening of the new DVD "Wubbzy Goes Green!"
Some participants say it is never too soon to develop a green thumb.
"Some little kids don't know how to do this and so they get more experience for doing this, and then maybe they do it more often when they grow up," said Helena Ybarra, who is 10 years old.
The City of Lompoc is one of nine organizations to receive a $1,500 grant from the Alliance for Community Trees.
That money will go towards similar tree-planting activities throughout the community.
