Nicotine patches may not help pregnant women quit smoking

New research reveals Nicotine patches don't help pregnant women quit smoking.

Women are strongly encouraged to stop smoking during pregnancy because of the possible risks to the mother and baby, but a French study of 400 pregnant smokers found Nicotine patches did not improve quit rates any better than a placebo.

Women who used Nicotine patches also had significantly higher blood pressure than those in the placebo group.
