The San Luis Obispo Rattlers dominated the visiting Santa Maria Reds 9-1 on Wednesday at Sinsheimer Stadium. They've outscored the Reds 24 to 6 in the first two games of the three game series.
Charlier Sharrer, a junior out of Cal State East Bay, drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. He added a run-scoring double as part of the Rat Pack's three-run third inning to take a 4-0 lead.
Former San Luis Obispo High and Cuesta star Michael Nieporte delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning and another two-run hit in the sixth inning. Nieporte will play at Chico State next year. He drove in 3 runs on 3 hits in the win on Tuesday.
Levi Shordon earned the win for the Rattlers. The left-hander from Arkansas State allowed one run on five hits with five strike outs in 4 2/3 innings.
SLO out-hit the Reds 14-7 in the victory.
The Rattlers will go for the sweep on Thursday at 6pm in Sinsheimer Stadium.
