Firefighters in Nipomo were barbecuing for a cause Sunday.
The annual event includes a barbecue meal with all the fixings, so that means tri-tip, beans and salsa from Jocko's, and even a bit of dessert on the side.
Firefighters also spent some time teaching kids about fire safety. All of the money raised will go toward some much-needed equipment and special training for the department. Firefighters say they are extremely grateful for the community's support.
"Everybody works together, we have an auxiliary as well, that puts in a lot of time to help us have this event," said Firefighter John Byrne.
Donations are still coming in but at last check, organizers say they raised between $3,000 and $4,000.
