Nipomo football ready for CIF playoff game

The Nipomo High football team will be in action at 7:30 pm tonight.

The Titans will take on Verbum Dei in a first round CIF playoff game. Nipomo is making the second playoff appearance in school history. The Titans are led by senior quarteback Josh Correia, who set a school record with 1,536 passing yards. Eric Penningroth rushed for 1,344 yards and 9 touchdowns, while Kevin Britt has hauled in 7 touchdown receptions and collected 699 receiving yards.

Verbum Dei relies on its running back Anthony Charles, who has rushed for 1,377 yards for 7 touchdowns. Quarterback Darryl Williams passed for 1,484 yards and 19 td strikes. Ten of those touchdown receptions were made by Fred Edison.

Nipomo is searching for the program's first playoff win. The game will be played at Pius X St.Matthias High in Downey.
