A Nipomo resident is facing DUI charges after he lost control of his truck and flipped it over.

The accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night on Southbound Highway 101 just south of Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo. Officers say 53-year-old Craig Stahl was apparently speeding when he hit the center divider. Crews had to extricate him.

Stahl reportedly told the officers he was coming from a bar. A number of beer cans fell out of the truck during the accident. Officers say he was not wearing a seatbelt, and was taken to the hospital for head injuries.
