A much anticipated study on air quality on the Nipomo Mesa will be released in early February. The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District's staff is finalizing the report. The study was conducted to determine the cause of high levels of airborne particulate matter impacting air quality on the Nipomo Mesa.

The study specifically looks at the effect of off-road vehicle activity on the Oceano dunes. Sophisticated air quality monitoring and sample collection was used in the study for over a year. The final report will be followed by a public workshop.
