No. 1 Cal Poly handles San Jose State, 12-5

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal Poly baseball team surged past San Jose State 12-5 on Tuesday at Baggett Stadium.

The Mustangs - who have won 11 consecutive games - pounded out 16 hits in the win. Tim Wise finished with four hits and two RBI; Zack Zehner had three hits to go with three runs scored.

Slater Lee (3-1) fired five solid innings on short rest to earn the victory on the mound. The freshman allowed just one earned run and didn't walk a batter in the win.

Cal Poly improves to 35-5 overall, the Mustangs begin a seven game road trip at Long Beach State on Friday.

Junior Matt Imhof is Cal Poly's scheduled starter.
