SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - An earthquake was recorded in a rural area of Monterey County Saturday morning, but it apparently didn't cause much of a disturbance.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 hit at 7:44 a.m. Saturday about 14 miles northeast of Soledad, or about 62 miles southeast of San Jose.
A Monterey County communications dispatcher says no calls had come into the dispatch center after the quake, while the USGS says on a handful of people posted on its website that they had felt the quake.
