One of the great things about coming home to the central coast is revisiting all my favorite hang-outs. Some have changed a bit. And in at least one case, it's made re-discovering it, all the more fun.

If you haven't been to the Madonna Inn lately, you may want to check it out soon, because they've made some additions to the place that offer more proof, There's No Place Like Home.

Everyone knows the place. It's world famous. But as is often the case, locals can sometimes miss out on the very things that draw people to our little corner of the world. But we still have people who come up and say, wow, we didn't even realize you were here." says Spa Manager Alexandra Sutton.

The Madonna Inn has been around for almost 60 years, but the SPA is a relatively new addition to the place. It opened two years ago. Tucked up against the mountain behind the Inn is a little oasis for weary travelers and a great potential escape for you. Sutton says she loves to see the reactions of people who see it for the first time. "There's guests that have been coming here for 20 to 30 years, so they come up here and they're just in awe."

The Spa offers all the luxury you'd expect from a first class facility catering to your well-being. Jeff and Melissa Young decided they both needed a day of pampering. "We just needed some alone time away from the kids." And they got it, head to toe.

Bring your daily dose of woes and worries here, and you'll likely leave with a revised to-do list. "Take a nap." says Jeff.

You can extend your mental vacation poolside. And Sutton points you that you don't have to book a room to book a whole day of rest and relaxation. "If you have a spa appointment here and you're a local guest, you get to use the entire spa facilities, which is fitness room, the 85-degree infinity pool with beachfront entry. I mean just look at the pool. It's amazing."

A lot of spas are about deep tissue, detox and cleansing, it's not that you can't get that here, but this is the Madonna Inn, so you might as well enjoy what they serve up best...decadence. "As a local you can come up here to pool, lay by the pool, order lunch cocktails...which our martinis are very very good here at the Madonna inn!" says Sutton.

About 20-percent of the clientele at the SPA are locals, but there's are people who haven't realized theres some new treasures to be found in the Pink Palace on the Hill....and they're right in our own backyard. "And we're open 365 days a year, every day, Christmas, thanksgiving, every day." says Sutton.
