New research suggests the noise machines designed to help babies sleep might be harmful to their hearing.
Scientists measured the maximum noise levels in 14 infant sleep machines and found all of them exceed the recommended noise limit for babies in hospital nurseries.
The findings also suggest nightly exposure to white noise might affect a baby's hearing, speech, and language development.
