SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Authorities say a man went on a shooting rampage at his south Sacramento County home that left his wife and two grown sons dead.

Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran said Tuesday that the 47-year-old suspect's two young daughters and a nephew escaped gunfire late Monday by running to the nearby home of relatives.

Detectives believe the man, whose name has not been released, shot his wife and their two grown sons, ages 19 and 22, during an argument. When deputies arrived, they found the father in the garage and the bodies of the family members in different parts of the house.

Deputies also found several rifles inside, but they have not tied any of them to the shooting.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are under investigation.
