The Northbound lanes of Highway 101 are closed between 154and 246 because of a fatal accident this morning. The California Highway Patrol says the lanes will be opened around 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. The lane closure comes from an accident that occurred around 3:45 a.m. CHP says a fuel tanker was traveling northbound on Highway 101 north of Jonata Park Rd and lost control of his truck. The truck and trailer rolled over and caught on fire. The driver died as a result of the accident and his name is being withheld at this time. CHP says the truck was fully loaded with 8,500 gallons of fuel. The fuel burned up within the tank and did not leak into the road. The driver was headed to Atascadero, but had planned to make a stop in Santa Maria.
