NSBC Athletic Round Table salutes Wilson and Miller

The Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table reconvened on Monday after a two-week break in Orcutt. Organizers named Righetti High's Luke Wilson and Cabrillo's Kiki Miller their Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

Wilson earned the honor after he captured a CIF Southern Section Masters title in the 152 pound weight class over the weekend at Temecula Valley High. Wilson, a senior, went 5-0 with three pins. The Masters Meet pits the top wrestlers from every division in the section against one another. So essentially, Wilson earned the title of the section's #1 152 pound wrestler regardless of division.

Wilson is one of four local wrestlers, who will compete this weekend at the CIF State Wrestling Championships. "State is always really tough. You just have to train as hard as you can and hopefully you just don't wrestle bad in any of your matches because every match is a grind," said Wilson, who finished 8th to medal at 145 pounds last year at State.

Miller completed two shutouts in goal for the Cabrillo girls soccer team last week. The junior helped the Lady Conquistadores land in the CIF semifinals for the third-straight year.

"We definitely have been working together a lot this year and it's really helped a lot because we lost a couple of our main players last year. So just bringing it all together and I think that's brought us really far in CIF," said Miller.

Cabrillo hosts San Marino on Tuesday at 3pm in search of the team's first-ever berth into the CIF championship game. Cabrillo lost in the semifinals in 2011 and 2012.
