HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) An Orange County prosecutor says a Huntington Beach man killed himself the day he was supposed to report to jail to serve a one-year sentence for molesting his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter.
Deputy District Attorney Robert Mestman says 47-year-old Ronald Steven Bell pleaded guilty on Aug. 18 to a felony county of committing a lewd or lascifious act with a minor. He was sentenced to a year in jail and five years probation.
Bell was also required to register as a sex offender for life.
Mestman says he was supposed to turn himself in Tuesday, but police were called to his home early Tuesday and found him dead of an apparent suicide.
