HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - An Irvine man who is HIV-positive has sued his former employer, The Pegasus School in Huntington Beach, for wrongful termination and other work-related violations.
The Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/LIHZA1) says the lawsuit filed last month claims 36-year-old Matthew Edmondson was harassed, verbally abused and forced to resign because of his medical status and sexual orientation.
The lawsuit alleges two Pegasus administrators waged a discrimination campaign against Edmondson beginning in February despite nine years of positive teaching evaluations.
School officials told the newspaper they could not comment on pending litigation.
Edmondson seeks unspecified compensatory and general damages for emotional distress and an injunction requiring the school to cease unlawful business practices.
