The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office say a girl was taken to a local hospital after she almost drowned in Cambria.

It happened at Leffingwell Landing around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Officials say a seven-year-old Bakersfield girl had been in the ocean and was swept away by a wave. Her uncle dove into the water and brought her back to shore. Two people visiting from Fresno also helped.

While they waited for an ambulance, an off-duty Pediatric nurse walked by the area and noticed that there was a problem. She and San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Deputy Chad Nicholson performed CPR until Cambria Ambulance arrived at the scene.

The little girl was taken to a local hospital for observation, and hospital officials say she's in stable condition.
