A new study reveals Olympic medalists live longer than the rest of us.

Researchers tracked more than 15,000 Olympians who won medals from 1896 to 2010.

All medalists lived an average of 2.8 years longer than the general population, regardless of their country of origin, the type of medal or the sport played.

In fact, Olympians in sports with high cardio intensity had similar mortality rates to those playing low intensity sports like golf or cricket.

Researchers say we can all increase our lifespan by doing 150 minutes a week of moderate to vigorous exercise.
